Announcement: 2007 Annual Meeting Breakfast and Clean up event To all Members and Friends of the Saugatucket River and Watershed: Please come to our Annual Meeting on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 9 A.M. at the Riverwalk in Downtown Wakefield. Program: Join us on a sunny spring morning along the river for coffee and donuts to hear about our exciting activities for 2007. Following the meeting you are welcome to join us in a river clean up. The Saugatucket River is approximately 7.5 miles long. Its headwaters are in the Shermantown area of North Kingstown, Rhode Island. The Saugatucket flows south into the town of South Kingstown and into the villages of Peace Dale and Wakefield. In Wakefield, it falls over a mill dam, becomes tidal and empties into Point Judith Pond, its estuary on the Atlantic Ocean. The Saugatucket River watershed has five tributaries and seven ponds or lakes, shown below.
